What happens to my Kentico custom page types and structured fields when moving to Textpattern?
Kentico page types (Document Types) map loosely to Textpattern sections by content area, which is a workaround rather than a direct equivalent: there is no page-type schema in Textpattern. Additionally, Textpattern limits each article to 10 custom fields, so page types with more than 10 structured fields will require you to decide before migration which fields to consolidate, drop, or store as body content; ClonePartner will surface this mapping gap during scoping so no fields are silently discarded.
Can ClonePartner migrate my Kentico Media Library files to Textpattern?
Images from the Kentico Media Library map to Textpattern's Images store, but non-image files require separate handling via Textpattern's Files section. This is a workaround, not a direct transfer. On the Kentico side, binary media files must be streamed individually from the local filesystem, so any media stored in cloud object storage must be downloaded to local disk before migration begins. On the Textpattern side, binary assets must be placed on the filesystem or via FTP separately from their database metadata records, so both operations are coordinated as part of the migration run.
Which Kentico version do I need to be on before starting the migration?
The API surface differs significantly across Kentico versions: Xperience by Kentico (the current SaaS-first product) exposes the most complete REST Management API, while Kentico Xperience 13 and earlier rely heavily on the .NET CMS.DataEngine rather than REST for bulk operations, which changes how content is extracted. If you are on Kentico 13, note that Kentico's own technical support ends 31 December 2026, with security hotfixes only through 2026 and no support or patches from 1 January 2027 onward; earlier versions (12.x, 11.x, and below) are already out of support. ClonePartner will confirm your exact version on the scoping call, as it directly determines the extraction method used.
Will my Kentico headless (Content Items) data survive the move to Textpattern?
Kentico headless Content Items are mapped to Textpattern articles using custom fields as a workaround, because Textpattern has no native headless content model. Two limitations compound here: the Kentico Delivery API is read-only, so extraction must go through the Management API, and Textpattern has no native JSON or XML export UI, meaning all import targets the MySQL database directly. Because Textpattern caps articles at 10 custom fields, headless content types with more structured attributes will need a field-reduction plan agreed before migration starts.

Will the migration set off automations or send emails or notifications to customers, our team or anyone else?
No. Before the sample or full migration starts, we confirm with you that nothing in Textpattern will send messages about the migrated data: we import with notifications switched off wherever Textpattern allows it, and either pause any automation that could send them for the migration window or give it a condition, such as a suppression tag, that skips migrated records, which lets your live automations keep running for new records. We only proceed once you have confirmed it. If you want anyone told about the move, that message is sent separately, once the migrated data has been checked.
Can you migrate data that Textpattern can't take in through an API?
In many cases, yes. Where something can't be written through an API, we recreate it through Textpattern's user interface where the interface allows it, and where that work is repetitive we script and automate it. We tell you up front which items are handled this way, because recreating them through the interface can add time to the schedule.
