01  /  Common concerns

Most teams delay the move because they fear…

Losing Content & History
With ClonePartner Preserved Every post, page & revision migrated with 100% fidelity.
Breaking Templates & Fields
With ClonePartner Intact Custom fields, blocks & templates re-created exactly.
Painful Downtime
With ClonePartner Eliminated Zero site downtime during cut-over.
Breaking Integrations
With ClonePartner Maintained Search, analytics & forms reconnected seamlessly.
Surprise Costs & Gaps
With ClonePartner Foreseen We audit your content model and flag every edge case before migration begins.

And honestly — they're right to worry. Automated tools may promise "1-click migration," but when things go wrong, it's your search rankings and content that pay the price.

02  /  Cost of waiting

But putting it off comes with an even higher cost.

Editorial Productivity Drops
With ClonePartner Sustained Editors stay in flow throughout the migration.
Search Rankings Decline
With ClonePartner Protected URL structure & redirects preserved — no SEO drop.
Hidden Costs Stack Up
With ClonePartner Transparent Flat, all-inclusive pricing agreed up front.
Automation Opportunities Vanish
With ClonePartner Unlocked New workflows & publishing pipelines ready on day one.
Redirect & SEO Debt Piles Up
With ClonePartner Resolved URL structure & 301 redirects mapped to retain search rankings.

Delaying doesn't just pause progress — it quietly erodes your search visibility and editorial velocity.

That's why ClonePartner exists.

We built our migration service for teams who can't afford to gamble with critical data or delay progress. Every migration is handled by real engineers who design, test, and validate your move — so you can switch CMS platforms without losing a single post, media asset, or redirect.

What does an Engineer-led migration mean anyway?

Speed & Accuracy: Our Blended Method

We blend automation (smart scripts, bulk APIs) with human expertise for speed without risk. Our engineers manually check every mapping, validation, and exception.

You get:

  1. Speed of automation for bulk record migration
  2. Precision of engineers verifying integrity and business logic
  3. Pilot migrations and sandbox testing to catch issues early
  4. Real-time validation reports and rollback readiness
Result: 50x faster migrations than manual imports — with near-zero error rates.

Handling the Tricky Tech and API Details

Every cms API is different, which is where our engineers shine. We build custom logic to handle the data quirks where generic tools typically break.

We handcraft API logic for:

  1. Field mapping and transformation
  2. Pagination, rate-limit handling, and throttling
  3. Preserving content relationships, media, and revision history
  4. Syncing custom fields, taxonomies, and templates without breaking structure
Our scripts: Natively retry failed calls, re-queue large attachments, and ensure data parity.

No Guesswork

We don't just promise smooth migrations—we measure and prove them. Every client receives a Migration Validation Report with all metrics.

Typical results across projects:

  1. 100% record-count parity between old and new cms
  2. Zero downtime during staged cutovers
  3. 99.9% attachment integrity (verified via checksum)
  4. Full automation and preservation of all business rules
Our standard: Includes full SEO and redirect preservation and 30 days of engineer-assigned support post go-live.

We Adapt to Your Setup (Not the Other Way Around)

No two CMS platforms are the same, with unique content models and data. We customize every migration script to fit your exact workflow, taxonomies, and templates.

Our engineers adapt for:

  1. Custom fields, content types, and workflows
  2. Multi-site or multi-language setups
  3. Historical imports and partial (date-based) migrations
  4. Integration re-mapping for search, analytics, or forms tools
The promise: If your data doesn't fit a standard template, we build one just for you.

Pros and cons of different migration options

Choosing the right approach is key because migrating your cms isn't just about moving data – it's about protecting your content, SEO, and reader experience.

Before you start

12 questions
Can we see a sample of our CMS data migrated before the full migration runs?
Yes. We run a sample migration on your own data first, so you can review how your records look in the new platform before the full migration goes ahead. We run validation scripts to confirm the record counts match your source, and you check the sample against your source records; if a field is missing or mapped wrong, or anything else needs adjusting, we fix it in the migration scripts and re-run the sample as many times as you need. The full migration only runs after you've approved the sample. On projects delivered in phases, each phase gets its own sample migration for you to approve.
Do you also set up and configure the new CMS platform, or just move the data?
ClonePartner does the engineering side of the migration: extracting your data from your current platform, mapping it to the structure of the new one and loading it with its relationships intact. Beyond what we agree as part of the migration, your team or your implementation partner configures the new platform and your business processes, and we migrate into the setup they build.
What are the steps to migrate our CMS data, from planning to go-live?
We start by agreeing on a migration checklist with you, covering how each field maps to the new platform. We then run a sample migration of a few hundred records, along with a separate verification report that compares the source and destination records, for you to review. Once you approve the sample, we run the full migration and finish with a delta sync just before cutover, so anything created or changed in the meantime comes across too.
What's the difference between an automated migration tool and an engineer-led service?
Automated tools use generic field mapping and often charge per record: they work for simple datasets but tend to break on custom fields, inline attachments and relational data. In an engineer-led migration, an engineer writes custom scripts for your exact data model and works out how your fields and objects map, so data that automated tools tend to skip, such as files and attachments, is planned for and migrated along with the standard fields. ClonePartner also runs unlimited sample migrations and gives you a dedicated migration engineer as your single point of contact throughout the project.
Can we talk to a customer who has done the same migration before we sign?
Yes, for enterprise migrations: reference calls with existing customers can be arranged as part of larger engagements. For other projects, we point you to our published case studies of completed migrations, choosing the ones closest to your project during scoping, such as ones involving the same platforms or a similar volume of data.
How large a migration can you handle?
There's no fixed upper limit. Each migration is built as custom scripts for your project, so a large dataset, including many years of history, is planned for rather than capped. At large volumes, run time is set mainly by how fast your current and new platforms' APIs accept requests, so we plan the schedule around that and test the throughput in a sample migration first.
Should we set up our new CMS platform before the migration, or migrate first and clean up afterwards?
Set up the new platform first. It works best to configure it the way you want to work from now on, then we write the migration scripts to translate your old data to match that setup. That is cleaner than migrating everything as it is and reshaping it inside the new platform afterwards.
What should we check in the sample migration if we can't compare every record?
Pick a handful of records you know well and check that the data means the right thing. We verify the counts by machine before the sample reaches you, so your job is the human check: are the right people and related records attached, are fields where you'd expect, and do notes read correctly? You can also ask us to include specific records, such as ones with long or complex histories, or for an export of the sample with its field values to scan.
How do you get our data out of our current CMS platform, and what data sources and file formats can you migrate from, such as CSV files, databases or APIs?
Usually you don't have to export it yourselves. Where your current system has an API, we read your data directly through it; where it doesn't, or you don't have API access, we work from a database export or backup, a direct connection to the database, or files your system can produce, such as a CSV, Excel or JSON export shared through FTP or cloud storage. With an export, only the new platform needs to be connected. We have worked with CSV and Excel files, JSON, flat files and PDFs. An export can leave out data that the platform's API returns, such as attachments, so we check yours during scoping and tell you what it will and won't carry over. Each migration is built as a custom script for that source and destination, and we confirm how each source maps on a sample migration before the full run.
Can you take over a migration that has stalled, or one that our own team or another vendor already started?
Yes. We can step in at whatever stage the migration has reached, whether it stalled, lost the person running it, or was partly done by your team or another provider. We start by establishing exactly what has already been migrated, then move only what's left, matching records that already exist in the new platform so nothing is created twice, and we prove it on a sample migration before the full run.
Do you load the data into our new platform yourselves, or do we have to import it?
Usually we load it ourselves, through the new platform's API or its native import tools. In some cases, such as when you'd rather not give us access to the new platform or it accepts certain data only through its own import screens, we transform your data into import files in the exact format it expects, for example JSON files, and deliver them through a channel that fits your security policy, such as Google Drive or Amazon S3. Your team then runs the upload, with step-by-step instructions or a recorded walkthrough from us.
What is CMS migration?
CMS migration is the process of moving your data, such as records, configurations, history and files, from one CMS platform to another. A well-run migration carries your records across with their relationships, timestamps and custom fields, wherever the new platform can store them, so your team keeps its history when it switches.

Data & mapping

25 questions
Our CMS data is pretty messy. Do we need to clean it up before you migrate it?
No. We first copy your data into a temporary staging database, and cleanup happens there before anything reaches the new platform. You set the rules, such as dropping records older than a cutoff date or leaving out records you no longer need, and we apply them in the migration scripts.
Can we change which fields we bring over, or how they map, after the project has started or even after the migration is finished?
Yes. Tell your migration team which fields you want to add or remove, or how you want them mapped, and they will update the mapping in the migration script before the full migration runs, so the full migration uses your latest field selection. If records have already been migrated, including after the migration is finished, we re-run the script with the revised mapping, which overwrites the earlier values on those records. For example, if you change your dropdown options, once you've updated them in the new platform we add a sheet to your migration checklist that pairs each original value with the new options, and when you've completed it we update every previously migrated record to match. On a large account this re-sync takes time, because every migrated record has to be updated, so we give you an estimate before it starts.
Can we migrate only part of our CMS data, such as recent records, one team's records or specific record types?
Yes. The migration scripts are built for your project, so you define exactly what moves when we scope the migration: for example one team or category, a date range such as the last two years, specific record types, a list of records you share with us, or records with a status or other value you choose to include or exclude. We pull only that data, and before the full run we confirm the record count and date range with you, so the scope is exactly what you intended and data you no longer need is not brought into the new platform.
Can you migrate data from a separate database alongside our current CMS platform?
Yes. Each migration is built as a custom script, so another source, such as a SQL database, can be part of the same project. We ask for read access and agree with you which tables or queries hold each value, then confirm the mapping with a sample migration before the full run.
How much of our team's time will our CMS migration take, and how do we decide how our fields map to the new platform?
Very little, and nothing technical. Your ClonePartner engineer sends you a migration checklist as a shared Google spreadsheet that lists every field in your current platform with a recommended mapping to the new one, and standard fields are mapped automatically. Your team, who know how the data is actually used, confirm where each custom field should land and add notes and preferences straight into the sheet, and we work through any open questions with you. You approve the checklist, then review a sample migration to confirm everything lands where you expect. We handle the scripting and migration runs ourselves, building the migration scripts from the agreed mapping so every field lands where you decided it should.
Will links between our records still work after the migration?
Yes. We move your data in two passes. The first pass creates every record in the new platform and stores its new ID. The second pass goes back and points each reference at the new record, so links between records lead to the right place.
Will loading data into the new platform slow down our team or disrupt our other integrations?
It can have some effect while the migration is running, and we schedule around your team if it does. The load usually comes through the new platform's API rather than its interface, but other integrations on the same account can share that API's rate limit. If your team notices a slowdown, we can pause the run and resume it later, or schedule it outside your working hours, for example over the weekend.
Are attachments migrated, and how do you make sure none are missed?
Yes. Attachments are downloaded from your current platform and uploaded to the new one as real files on the same records, wherever it accepts files on that type of record and within its file size limit, not left as links back to the old system. To make sure none are missed, your Migration Validation Report checks attachment integrity by checksum alongside the record-count comparison, and we can also run an attachment count check against your source and share the results. You can review attachments in the sample migration before the full run.
Will API rate limits on our old or new platform slow the migration down or cause data to be missed?
They affect how long the migration takes, not what it includes. We plan the schedule around both platforms' limits, run extraction and loading in parallel where we can, and keep the job running until everything is pulled; requests that hit a limit are retried rather than skipped, and the record-count comparison in your Migration Validation Report confirms everything arrived. Where a platform lets you raise its limit for the migration, for example as an add-on, doing so shortens the run.
Can you move our account to another data center region on the same platform, such as from the US to the EU?
Yes, where the platform offers hosting in the region you need. We treat it like any other migration: both accounts are connected, your data is copied from the account in its current region to a new account in the target region, and a delta migration at an agreed time brings across anything that changed. Your team keeps using the current account until switchover, and you can use the move to leave older history behind, for example by migrating only open and recent records.
Do you also move or reconnect our integrations, such as a data warehouse connection, in the new platform?
Not as part of the migration itself. Your team reconnects each tool, such as a data warehouse connection, to the new platform after cutover. If you want an integration or data pipeline rebuilt for the new platform, we can scope and quote it as separate work.
Our current system is hosted on-premises behind a firewall. Can you still migrate it?
Yes. Your system doesn't need to be cloud-hosted: all migration traffic comes from one fixed IP that your IT team can whitelist in the firewall, instead of opening broader access. We then read from the system's API or connect to its database directly, and on-premises sources start with a short discovery step to learn how your installation stores its data.
Will dropdown values come across as readable labels or as the codes stored in our old system?
As readable labels, unless you choose otherwise. Where your old system stores a code behind each option, we map the codes to the labels your team actually sees, so dropdowns in the new platform show readable values. We confirm this with you during mapping, and we flag any code that doesn't identify a single value on its own so you can pick a better source field.
Can you migrate our data into the new platform while we're still on its free trial?
Yes, as long as the trial account gives us the access we need and stays active until the final delta. Tell us the trial end date when you complete the migration checklist, and we plan the schedule to finish the full migration before it ends. The sample migration also lets you see your own data in the new platform while you are still evaluating it.
Can you rename, combine or change the type of our fields during the migration, instead of copying them one-to-one?
Yes. The migration checklist is the source of truth for the migration, so you can rename fields, change their type or merge several into one rather than copying them one-to-one. Where the types differ, the scripts convert the values, for example text in your current platform to a number in the new one, and you check the result in the sample migration.
What if our current platform's API is outdated, poorly documented or doesn't return all of our data?
We can usually still migrate it. Each migration is written as custom scripts, so we work with whatever access your current platform offers: its API, even an older or less common one, an export or database backup, and where the API leaves something out, another route where possible, such as the platform's interface with access you grant or another source the data came from. If the vendor has to switch on API access for your account, we tell you exactly what to request, and we confirm what is reachable during scoping and on the sample migration. Once the data is pulled, we share the record counts and the oldest record we have so you can confirm nothing is missing. Some items can't be reached by any route, and in that case we tell you which ones; after the migration you also get a list of anything that didn't come across, with the reason.
Will our tags and labels carry over to the new system?
Yes, where the new platform supports them. Tags and labels are part of the field mapping and are applied to the same records in the new platform. Where an old tag has no match there and can't be created, we map it to an existing tag you choose, and you can check how your tags come across in the sample migration before the full run.
Can the access permissions and restrictions from our old system be carried over to the new one?
Yes, where the new platform's permission model supports them, by rebuilding them there rather than copying them. We map each restricted area of your data, such as a department, to the closest control the new platform offers, agree with you which of your current teams or groups get access, and apply it to the records as they are migrated. We test the restrictions on a non-sensitive set of records before the full run, and we flag content that is hidden in your current platform in a way that won't carry over, so it isn't exposed by accident.
Can you migrate our CMS workflows and automations, or only our data?
Both can be in scope. Your records are the core of the migration, and workflows, rules and automations can be added: we recreate them in the new platform using its own conditions and actions, since automations don't copy across platforms as they are. Where the new platform's API can't create them, they are set up through its interface instead, and we agree during scoping exactly which ones we rebuild and which your team or implementation partner will handle.
Do we need to buy API access or an add-on licence on our current platform before the migration can start?
It depends on your current platform. Some only open their API through a paid add-on, such as a developer or web services licence, or only on certain plans. We check this for your platform during scoping and tell you before kickoff if anything needs to be bought or enabled, so it doesn't hold up the start.
Can you migrate attachments we store outside the platform, such as in our own Amazon S3 bucket?
Yes. You give us read access to the bucket, for example with temporary credentials, and we pull the files from it and attach each one to the matching record in the new platform. Part of the work is establishing how the bucket's folder or file names link back to your records, and the sample migration lets you confirm the files land on the right records before the full run.
Will the data we migrate count toward the new platform's plan limits or storage charges?
It depends on the new platform's plan. Migrated records arrive as regular records in the new platform, so whether they count toward its record or storage limits is set by that platform's pricing, and its own team or your implementation partner can confirm how your plan treats them. If limits are a concern, you can reduce what moves, for example by migrating only the last one or two years of history.
Is your know-how for handling tricky differences between platforms documented, or does it depend on particular engineers?
It's documented. Each project's mapping, including how differences between the two platforms are handled, is written into the migration checklist, which is the source of truth for the migration, and the migration scripts implement that mapping in code. That way, how every field is transformed can be looked up in the project's own documents rather than depending on one person's memory.
Can you run the migration into a sandbox or test environment before production?
Yes. If you have a sandbox or test environment, we can run the migration there first, so your team can test and approve it before we run it in production. Where you keep more than one test environment, such as UAT and a training environment, the migration can be run into each of them before production.
What data can be migrated between CMS platforms?
We migrate your core records, including custom fields, taxonomies, media, revision history, and full content relationships, wherever the new platform can store it. Because we write custom scripts for your exact data model, we also handle edge cases like inline images, multi-language content, URL redirects, and cross-object relationships that automated tools typically skip.

Timeline & downtime

12 questions
Once we sign, how soon can the migration start?
We ask for a couple of days of lead time once the engagement is agreed. In that window we get access to your source and destination accounts and set up the sample migration.
We need to be off our current CMS platform by a fixed date. Can you work to that deadline, even if the account expires before the migration can finish?
Yes. Tell us the date at the start and we plan the migration around it. If the window is tight, we migrate your most recent records first so your team can start working in the new platform, then backfill the older history in the background. If the account expires before the migration can finish, we pull all your data, including attachments, from your current platform into our staging database before it expires and migrate it into the new platform from there afterwards. Extraction time depends on volume and the account has to stay active until the pull is complete, and anything created after the pull can only come across if a final sync runs before the account closes.
Can we migrate our CMS data in phases, such as one team or department at a time, or bring part of it over now and the rest later?
Yes. Scope is set for each migration, so you can move one team, one date range or one set of records first and bring the rest across in a later run, which picks up only what wasn't migrated before, so nothing is created twice. We agree each run's scope with you when you're ready. For a phased rollout, the migration is split into batches, for example by team, department or business unit, each timed to when that group goes live in the new platform, such as a new batch each week. It starts with a pilot group that is migrated and validated before the rest follow, and anything the pilot shows us is applied to the batches after it, so each wave runs on a process that has already been tested. Teams that have already moved keep working normally while the next batch is prepared.
What happens at cutover to the new CMS platform, and how long does the final sync take?
Your team keeps working in your current platform up to the go-live time you choose. On your agreed cutover date, we run a delta migration that picks up any records created or changed in your current platform since the previous run. Because it moves only what changed, it is much shorter than the full run; how long it takes depends on that volume, and we give you a time estimate for it before the cutover date is set.
How do you handle changes we make in our current CMS platform while the migration is still in progress, and is it a one-time move or an ongoing sync?
It is a point-in-time migration. We run the full migration first, then one or more delta runs that pick up anything created or changed in your current platform since the previous pass, from new records to updated fields, so the new platform is up to date when you switch over. The final delta runs at a time agreed with you, lined up with your go-live. Until a delta runs, recent changes in your current platform will not show in the new one yet. If your team starts working in the new platform before that final pass, we check incoming records against what is already there so the delta does not overwrite their changes.
Can we postpone the final migration if the new CMS platform isn't set up in time?
Yes. The final migration runs on a date you confirm, and if your team needs more time to set up the new platform, we move it to a new date. You keep working in your current platform until then.
What happens if our account connection or authorization expires partway through the migration?
We pause that part of the migration and send you a link to reconnect. A connection to your current or new platform can expire or be disconnected mid-project, for example when an authorization session ends or an API key is revoked. When that happens, we let you know with a secure reauthorization link, and once you've reconnected we continue the migration. If the account itself is about to close, tell us its end date at the start, so we can pull all the data we need before it closes and migrate from that copy.
Can CMS migration be paused partway through and resumed later?
Yes. We can pause the run at a time you choose, for example while your team tests something in the new platform or during your busiest hours, and resume it as soon as you tell us you're ready. Agree the pause time with us and we confirm once the migration has stopped.
Our current platform can't export only recently changed records. How does the final sync work then?
We pull everything again and work out the changes ourselves. For the final sync, we run a full data pull from your current platform, then migrate the records created since the last sync and update the ones that changed, for example a record whose status has changed since it was migrated. A full pull takes longer than a normal delta, so we can run a pre-delta sync shortly before cutover to keep the final step small.
Can we track the migration's progress while it runs, and will you keep us updated?
Yes. We send you regular updates as the migration runs, including how many records have migrated and how many remain, and we can share a live progress dashboard alongside the sample migration so you can follow the run through to completion. Records that error are re-synced, and at the end you get a list of every migrated record and anything left out.
How long does it take to migrate CMS data?
Most migrations complete in 1–5 business days. Small datasets (under 10,000 records) can finish in under 24 hours, and very large migrations, such as several hundred thousand records, take longer. Timeline depends on total data volume, API rate limits on both platforms, and the complexity of custom fields or attachments.
Can I migrate without downtime?
Yes. There is no downtime. We run the bulk migration in the background while your source platform stays fully operational, then run a delta sync to capture any records created during the migration, and cut over during off-hours. For example, your team can leave on Friday and come in on Monday to a fully working new platform. We only read data from your source platform, so nothing in it is modified. If you want the whole migration to run outside your working hours, such as over a weekend, we schedule it inside a window you choose, as long as your data volume fits that window, which we check with a sample migration beforehand.

Security & access

11 questions
Can our data stay in a specific region, such as Australia, during the migration?
Yes, for where your data is held. During the migration your data is staged in a hosted database, and we can set that up in the region you need, such as Australia, the US or the EU.
Do you keep audit logs of who accessed our data during the migration?
Our audit logs cover the migration itself: every record created, skipped or failed. Access to your data is controlled rather than logged per person. For each project, only the migration engineer assigned to it can view your data, enforced through permissions, and no one else at ClonePartner can.
Is it safe to migrate CMS data?
Yes. We restrict who can see your data and keep you in control of every connection. ClonePartner is ISO 27001 certified, SOC 2 Type II compliant, and HIPAA and GDPR compliant. Your data is encrypted at rest with AES-256, and only the migration engineer assigned to your project can view it; no one else at ClonePartner can. You connect your accounts through secure links and can revoke those connections at any time, and all migration traffic runs through one fixed IP that your IT team can whitelist. Our access is removed once the migration is complete, and if a fix is needed during your post-migration support period, access can be re-established with your approval.
Is our data deleted from your systems after the migration, and how soon?
Yes. The data we stage for your migration is kept for your post-migration support period, generally 30 days, or longer where a longer period is agreed, so we can resolve any issues that come up. It is then permanently deleted. You can ask us to delete it sooner, and we can confirm the deletion in writing.
Will you sign a BAA if our data includes protected health information?
Yes, wherever it's required. Where a migration involves protected health information, we sign a Business Associate Agreement before accessing or migrating any of it.
Is ClonePartner compliant with GDPR, SOC 2 and HIPAA?
Yes. ClonePartner is ISO 27001 certified, SOC 2 Type II compliant, and HIPAA and GDPR compliant. For each project only the assigned migration engineer can view your data, and we can share our SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 documentation for your security review under an NDA.
What access to our accounts do you need, and how do we give it to you securely?
Usually just an API connection to each platform, which you authorize yourself. We send you a secure link for each platform, and you connect it through the platform's own sign-in or with an API key; where a platform needs setup first, such as an OAuth app, we walk you through it. The new platform needs an admin-level connection with write access, authorized by an administrator on your side, because we have to create your records and their related records in that account. You can use a dedicated service account scoped to the migrated data that you can revoke at any time. Some platforms also need access to their interface, because part of the data or setup isn't available through the API.
How do we send you export files that contain personal data securely, without emailing them?
We send you a secure upload link for the files, so personal data never has to travel by email. If your team prefers its own method, such as a cloud storage bucket with temporary access or a one-time download link, we can work with that instead, and you can first share a sample built with dummy data so we can confirm the export's structure.
Can you share security documentation, such as a SOC 2 report, DPA or penetration test report, for our security review?
Yes. We share our security documentation with your security team: our DPA and sub-processor list, with our SOC 2 Type II report, ISO 27001 certificate and penetration test report shared under NDA. We can also complete your security questionnaire.
Can I sign an NDA?
Yes. We sign NDAs and DPAs as standard, and we're happy to sign your NDA or ours.
Who can view my data?
Only the migration engineer assigned to your project can view your data, enforced through permissions. No one else at ClonePartner can view it, and our access is removed once the migration is complete.

Pricing

3 questions
Does the migration price include the sample, full and delta migrations?
Yes. The flat fee covers the whole migration: the sample migration, which you can re-run as many times as you need until you're happy with how your data looks, the full migration, and multiple delta migrations to bring across recent changes up to cutover. There are no hidden costs, and small variances in the final volume, a bit more or less, are included.
Do we pay before the sample migration, or only after we've approved it?
Part of it before. A partial payment is required to start the sample migration, and the sample migration is unlimited: you can re-run it as many times as you need until you're completely sure how your data looks in the new platform. Once you approve the sample, we invoice the remaining payment. Payment terms can also be adjusted for your project when we agree the engagement.
How much does CMS migration cost?
ClonePartner uses transparent, fixed-price quotes, not per-record pricing. Pricing starts at $500 and scales based on data volume, number of custom fields, attachment size, and the platforms involved. It's a flat fee with no hidden costs: the price we agree with you is the price you pay, and small variances in the final volume, a bit more or less, are included. Once the quote is agreed, it doesn't change, even if the migration takes longer than planned; only work you add beyond the agreed scope is quoted separately. After go-live

9 questions
How do I validate that everything migrated correctly?
Every client receives a Migration Validation Report with comprehensive metrics including record-count comparison, attachment integrity verification via checksum, and full audit logs of the migration run, showing every record created, skipped or failed. If any item didn't come across, the report names each one, the specific reason, and how to bring it across if you want it there. We also offer unlimited sample migrations, so you can check your data before the full migration runs.
What support do you provide after the migration goes live?
At ClonePartner, we consider ourselves your partners in this journey. We take full accountability for your migration's success. Once your migration goes live, we provide 30 days of comprehensive post-migration support as standard, and longer support, such as 60 or 90 days, can be agreed for your project. During this period, we help with anything related to your migrated data, so your migration is a complete success.
Will your team be available during our working hours, especially around go-live?
Yes, around go-live. We schedule the cutover and the final delta migration with you in advance, including early-morning windows where your cutover needs one, and we work with clients across time zones, including Australia.
If we find something wrong in the new platform after the migration, how does it get fixed?
Send the records to us and our team corrects them. Because your migration runs on scripts built for your project, we fix issues by rerunning or adjusting those scripts against the affected records, not by editing them one at a time. That keeps the fix consistent with everything else that was migrated and avoids the errors manual cleanup introduces.
Do we need to keep our old account after the migration is finished?
No, but keep it until we confirm the migration is complete and you've checked the result. Until then we read your data directly from your current platform, and any fix is quickest while it is still accessible. We tell you when it is safe to cancel, and if you'd like a permanent copy of your old data after that, we can deliver an offline archive that needs no account to open.
Can a migration be undone or rolled back if something goes wrong or we change our minds?
Usually, yes. We keep a record of everything the migration creates, including an ID map from each old record to its new one, so if a run has to be undone or you decide against the result, we can delete the migrated records from the new platform, where its API allows deletion, and run it again if needed. Deletion follows the same API rate limits as the migration, so how long it takes depends on how much was migrated. Your current platform is not changed by the migration, because we only read data from it. Mapping problems are caught first on the sample migration you approve before the full run, and during the full run any record that fails is logged, fixed and re-synced, while an interrupted run picks up where it stopped.
What if we need something fixed after the post-migration support period has ended?
We can still help, as additional work. Your post-migration support period, 30 days as standard, or 60 or 90 days where agreed for your project, covers fixes to the migrated data. After it ends, tell us what you need changed and we scope and quote it as a separate piece of work.
Will we get a full copy of our data when the migration is finished?
Yes, if you want one. At the end of the migration we can hand over a full export of the data we pulled from your current platform, split into smaller files where needed, so you keep your own copy after you stop using the old system. If you'd like to query the old data later, we can also deliver it as a SQL database that you can load wherever you want.
Do you train our team on the new platform after the migration?
No. Training on the new platform isn't part of the migration, so it is best arranged with the platform's own team or your implementation partner. Questions and fixes about the migrated data itself are covered by our post-migration support, 30 days as standard, or 60 or 90 days where agreed for your project.
